Psychology – About Me

img_0662About me

My name is Dr. Timothy Lyons. I was raised in California and live in Northern California near Sacramento.  I am a California Licensed Clinical Psychologist and am a lifelong student. Throughout my life I have worked in various fields. I have been everything from a cashier at a famous fast food restaurant, an entrepreneur and even a mortgage lender. My most recent stop has been a many year education in the world of psychology and executive leader in mental health care. Timothy Lyons on LinkedIn

One morning I woke up and decided that my past life, which was focused on working to make money to pay for my family and bills was not enough. My new life would be much more fulfilling if I spent the rest of my days in service to others. Asking myself what I finally wanted to do when I grew up, I realized that I wanted to work in the helping professions. I used my own personal struggles to sum up some of my most valuable assets and began a satisfying journey to re-educate myself to become knowledgeable in an area that fascinated me in all of my various career and educational stages.

The sum total of my work has culminated in obtaining a doctorate in applied clinical psychology and working in the field as a licensed clinical psychologist. This path has also lead me to be an advocate for the mentally ill, a counselor for persons who suffer from substance abuse disorders and even a case manager to people who are transitioning back into society after incarceration.

Why I Do This

There are so many opportunities and avenues that I wish to explore in this field. I know that I will not have enough time left in my life to do so. I truly hope that this website is not only made for posterity but also a way that you can find information that will guide you on a meaningful journey of your own.

Please enjoy your time learning. It is my hope that this site will show you how to get to bigger and better things. Also, that you find a path to help others. This is the most rewarding field I could imagine.

If you have suggestions as to articles that you would like to read about or you would like to contribute to this site in any way please email me at Tim@psychology-info.com
